Political Freedom

Political freedom is being free from tyranny,  free to go where you want to go, be who you want to be, own what you want to own, and spend your time doing what you want to do as long as it doesn't harm anyone else, or abuse their rights.  It is being able to govern yourself without the government telling you everything you can and cannot do.

·  The dictionary gives the definition of tyranny as the absolute power arbitrarily or unjustly administered; despotism. An arbitrarily cruel exercise of power, a tyrannical act.
In Greek history, it is the office or the administration of a tyrant.

A tyrant is one who rules oppressively or cruelly. One who exercises absolute power without legal warrant. Usually a tyrant will enact laws that are oppressive to the people. The people will feel a heavy weight under the hands of a tyrant. They will lose their freedoms of being able to go where they want to go, do what they want to do, own what they want to own and be who they want to be. The people will feel oppressed.

The dictionary defines oppress as: To burden or keep in subjugation by harsh and unjust use of force or authority. Oppression is defined as: A sense of weight or constriction: mental depression.

The purpose of the United States Constitution was to keep the government officials from becoming oppressive and abusive to the people.

The Founding Fathers said that men were given certain unalienable rights by God. These are the rights to life, the right to liberty, the right to pursue whatever course of life a person may desire in search of happiness, so long as it does not invade the inherent rights of others, this also entails the right to own property.

THE MOST BASIC REASON FOR A COMMUNITY OR A NATION TO SET UP A SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT IS TO ASSURE ITS INHABITANTS THAT THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE SHALL BE PROTECTED AND PERCEIVED. This is taken from the book, Making of America, the Substance and Meaning of the Constitution, written by Dr. W. Cleon Skousen, page 28.

·  This is why it is important for the American people to:

1. Learn the U. S. Constitution,

2. Vote in good and wise men who will represent the people and the people's righteous desires,

3. Voice their grievances when they see abuses of the Constitution.

If the elected officials are not listening to the people's grievances, it is time for the people to vote them out of office.

The United States of America is a Republic form of government. The government officials are elected in office to represent the people. When they no longer represent the people but employ their own wishes, they become a rulers type of government and it is time to find someone who will represent the people through the voting process.
